On 14 February 2025, USHAŞ, Türkiye’s leading institution in international healthcare services, held an important meeting with Mr. Osman Koray ERTAŞ, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to London and Mr. Abdurrahim BOYNUKALIN, 25th Term Istanbul MP and Representative of the Justice and Development Party in the United Kingdom, in order to evaluate new cooperation and investment opportunities in the field of healthcare. During the meeting, the role of USHAŞ in health diplomacy, its success in international health services and the projects carried out with public power were discussed. In addition, the services offered by the “HealthTürkiye” portal and the opportunities offered by Türkiye in the field of health on an international scale were also detailed.
Within the scope of the meeting, it was emphasized that the private hospital sector in the UK is not sufficiently developed, 7 million British citizens are waiting in the NHS (National Health Service) appointment lists and the existing health infrastructure is insufficient to meet the demand. Mr. Behlül ÜNVER, General Manager of USHAŞ, emphasized the importance of training for healthcare professionals and stated that the opening of a medical center in the UK that can provide triage (prioritization of emergency medical conditions) services would be a strategic step in terms of directing major health problems to Türkiye.
During the meeting, the issue of supplying medicines and medical devices from Türkiye to the UK through USHAŞ was also discussed. It was emphasized that there is a shortage of medical devices in the UK and that the establishment of an imaging center would be the most effective solution. Mr. Behlül ÜNVER stated that if the necessary licenses and infrastructure are provided, this center can be put into operation quickly and Türkiye’s know-how in the field of health can be transferred to the UK.
It was also stated that new legal regulations are being worked on to guarantee the reliability and quality of health services to be provided through the “HealthTürkiye” portal.
