USHAŞ General Manager Behlül ÜNVER, along with Prof. Dr. Kemalettin AYDIN, Rector of the University of Health Sciences, met with Governor of Namangan Province of Uzbekistan Anvarjon OTAKHODJAEV on 09 January 2025. The meeting was considered as an important step towards further consolidating Türkiye’s leadership in the field of global health and aimed to take the health cooperation between the two countries to a higher level.
At the beginning of the meeting, USHAŞ General Manager Behlül ÜNVER shared information on the international achievements of USHAŞ and Türkiye’s leading role in the field of health tourism, and emphasized the mission of the institution to develop cooperation in the field of health. USHAŞ General Manager Behlül ÜNVER emphasized that Türkiye is taking confident steps towards becoming a healing center and that USHAŞ has a strategic importance on this path.
During the meeting, the field visit of the USHAŞ delegation to the Namangan region in October 2024 and the critical role of this visit in the development of bilateral relations were discussed and it was stated that it laid the foundation for the projects that can be realized in the future. In this context, issues such as the establishment of a serum factory in Namangan region, supply of pharmaceuticals and medical devices, accreditation of a cardiology hospital and feasibility studies for hospital investments were discussed. It was also stated that more than 4,500 health professionals from more than 200 universities in Türkiye can contribute to the projects of Namangan Governorate through USHAŞ.
During the meeting, Governor of Namangan, Anvarjon OTAKHODJAEV mentioned that diabetes is one of the biggest health problems in the region and the lack of private health insurances. In addition, it was also discussed that health forums and workshops could be organized due to the declaration of 2025 as the year of “İbn-i Sina”. USHAŞ General Manager Behlül ÜNVER stated that a special list could be prepared for issues such as the training of health professionals, insulin, pharmaceutical and medical device supply, and that working groups could be formed in these areas and necessary projects could be developed.
