USHAŞ Chairman Kenan Şahin, USHAŞ General Manager Mehmet Ali Kılıçkaya and Georgia’s Ankara Ambassador George Janjgava convened at Ankara Branch of USHAŞ to sign the protocol, and Georgian Deputy Minister of Health Giorgi Tsotskolauri participated into the protocol ceremony via video conferencing.
Meeting’s opening speech was delivered by USHAŞ Chairman Salih Kenan Şahin who expressed that he believed that friendship between two countries dating back to very old days and strategic partnership relationship would be reinforced and improved by this agreement concluded in the area of health. Şahin underlined the Türkiye’s successful health policies and health management model, which sets an example to world for fighting with pandemic and added that “Our country has been quickly improved in healthcare by investments in public and private hospitals, qualified health profession education institutions, domestic medicines, and manufacturing of medical devices and consumables. Today, we are one of the leading countries of the world in health tourism. Digitalization of healthcare services, quality of delivery of medical services and focus on domestic manufacturing of medical products have started to blossom forth. Covid-19 pandemic has showed once again that there are no limits in health. We are very proud to share our experiences with the world nations, particularly, to build business collaboration with sister countries like Georgia in order to provide direct services for human life.”
Georgian Deputy Minister of Health Tsotskolauri also expressed his pleasure to sign the protocol and said that he believed this protocol would contribute to further reinforcement of collaboration that has existed for a long time with Türkiye.
The protocol includes encouraging intermediary activities in health tourism and covers export of medicines, medical devices, and medical consumables. In addition, Georgia government will pay the treatment costs of its citizens who wish to receive treatment in Türkiye, which is considered an important step in health tourism between two countries.
