On December 30, 2024, an important step was taken towards the development of health tourism by holding a Consultation Meeting to update the Regulation Concerning International Health Tourism and Tourist Health.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Health and USHAŞ, as well as leading names of the sector. Chairman of the Board of Directors of USHAŞ Yasin ERKOÇ, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors Engin KARABAŞ and General Manager Behlül ÜNVER made the opening speeches of the meeting.
The demands of both the public and private sectors were considered.
The main purpose of the meeting was to listen to the expectations and suggestions of public and private sector representatives regarding the process in order for Türkiye to achieve its health tourism targets. The Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Health and USHAŞ discussed the contributions of the planned amendments to the regulation to the health tourism sector by adopting a transparent cooperation approach with sector stakeholders.
Regulation Update Workshop
In the workshop organized within the scope of the meeting, the following topics were discussed by taking the opinions and suggestions of sector representatives regarding the Regulation:
- Expectations and suggestions regarding the Regulation
- Evaluation of performance criteria
- Recommendations for audit processes
- Use of HealthTürkiye Portal and content development
- International promotion strategies
- Pricing criteria
- Steps to develop health tourism
In each session, the views of sector representatives were discussed in detail. This process served as an important guide for future regulations.
Contribution to Türkiye’s Health Tourism Targets
USHAŞ General Manager Behlül ÜNVER said, “Türkiye is on its way to becoming a leading country in health tourism with its modern health infrastructure and qualified health professionals. This meeting aims to accurately determine the needs of the sector and shape the regulation updates accordingly.”
This meeting, organized under the leadership of the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Health and USHAŞ, is deemed to be an important milestone in Türkiye’s achievement of its health tourism goals.
